TnJ 150 (12/30/10)

EXPANDO!!! The show ran 3 hours so John “Frogville” Treadwell could wait for the snow on his steep driveway to melt safely. Goodbye, 2010! We’ll miss you (^_^), or will we? Mwa-Ha-HAH!

-HOUR ONE-

Guest-Toast David Del Mauro returns with a sampling of his favorite 2010 sounds…

Audio > Rocco singing “Del Mauro Boys” a capella
THE BLACK KEYS – Black Mud (2010 Brothers)
RAY LaMONTAGNE and the PARIAH DOGS – God Willin’ & the Creek Don’t Rise (2010 God Willin’ & the Creek Don’t Rise)
ARCADE FIRE – Modern Man (2010 the Suburbs)
Audio > clip from the film “The Other Guys”
RYAN ADAMS & the CARDINALS – Breakdown into the Resolve (2010 III/IV)
KINGS of LEON – Charmer (2007 Because of the Times)
KINGS of LEON – the Face (2010 Come Around Sundown)

BROKEN BELLS – October (2010 Broken Bells)
THE HOLD STEADY – Rock Problems (2010 Heaven Is Whenever)
GOLD PANDA – Snow & Taxis (2010 Lucky Shiner)

The list here doesn’t fully represent the smooth, creative blending of sounds David managed to accomplish. I tried to let him steer as much as possible without looking over his shoulder, but the parts I did manage to hear reminded me of the olden days of creative radio. I rarely get to hear other DJs shoot for that aesthetic, and I quite enjoyed it – thank you, David.
