GOV'T MULE 6/11/22 The Bridge at Santa Fe Brewing, Santa Fe, NM

The jams have been jammed!  Proving that they have no intention of slowing down almost 30 years into their run, letting neither shoulder injuries nor COVID keep them down for more than a few days, Gov't Mule blew the proverbial doors off the place last night.  Not sure whether it was due to wildfires being too close for comfort in Taos, or because improvements to the venue up there were behind schedule (or both), but Taos' loss was Santa Fe's gain.

Opening with "Blind Man in the Dark?"  Never in all my born days.  That second set was one for the ages, though: opening with Pink Floyd's "One of These Days?"  Three Allman Brothers jams PLUS a "Mountain Jam" tease?  I stood there with my arms outstretched and shouted at the sky, "We are the luckiest people on Earth right now!!!"  Their classic, "Mule" is basically their "Whole Lotta Love," in that they can just plug in as many jams and teases into it as they wanna, time changes and style shifts be damned.  The "Working Class Hero" encore owed as much to Green Day's take as the original John Lennon's, but is sure was a great way to cap a great show.  Here's to the next!
