CHRIS ROBINSON BROTHERHOOD - 8/23/11 Santa Fe Brewing Company, Santa Fe, NM

For the stalwart few who still enjoy good, old-fashioned rock-n-roll, a night with the Chris Robinson Brotherhood backs up the old adage "they just don't make 'em like that no more."

Granted, some of the songs haven't quite crystallized into their most perfect form yet, and some of the solos kind of fizzle and crash before achieving orbit, but altogether a great set from a combo with a lot of potential.

JAMBANDS AHOY

Santa Fe jam fans get a rare double shot of live shows next week at Sol Santa Fe (formerly Santa Fe Brewing Company).

First, re-creating the Grateful Dead experience one show at a time since 1995, it's Dark Star Orchestra on Thursday (8/11).

Then, on Friday (8/12), the return of Chicago's finest jamgrass outfit: Cornmeal. Serious side-aching dancing to be had, everybody!

These shows are both all ages affairs, and if you mention Toast-n-Jam at the door Thursday when you show up tie-died for Dark Star, they'll cut you a serious break on a ticket for Cornmeal the next night right then and there - only $5 (^_^)

So get out there and see some music!
